Since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pneumonia, it has been attracting people’s attention. Especially in Wuhan and the worst-hit areas of Hubei province, there is a shortage of protective materials. After the outbreak, the Chinese Catholic Patriotic Association (CCPA) and Bishops’ Conference of the Catholic Church in China (BCCCC) promptly issued the Notice of calling on churches across this country to donate to areas affected by novel coronavirus pneumonia and will donate 500,000 through Jinde Charities. Churches across this country positively respond to the calling of CCPA and BCCCC, donate generously, especially in recent days, together with CCPA and BCCCC’s partner, Jinde Charities and the Hubei Church, the priests of the country and community of caring people have united and cooperated to donated love and cooperated with medical departments at all levels to fight the epidemic.

Because the medical anti-virus masks are very short in China, from 25 Jan, Jinde Charities has been contacting with overseas partners. When the overseas manufacturers cannot supply in large quantities, on 2 Feb, Jinde Charities has also appealed to overseas priests, church members, abbots, abbess, members of friaries and convents, and presidents of missionary hospitals. Last week one batch of masks have been directly mailed by church groups (some have overseas Chinese) in New York, Europe. Currently, overseas Chinese communities in New York, Chicago, Atlanta Los Angeles, Vienna, Toronto; Churches in Portugal, Italy, Spain and Catholic missionary hospitals of these area have also responded to the appeal of Jinde Charities by raising the medical materials which are shorted in the epidemic area of China. The Tajeon Parish in Korea has also raised some materials which are expected to be delivered subsequently in recent days. To respond the need of the epidemic area, currently, Jinde Charities have been ordering all kinds of medical materials in China and also have been ordering the most shorted medical materials such as masks and protecting clothes via overseas friends.

From Feb. 3 to 5, Jinde Charities have sent materials such as 10,000 pieces of isolation gowns, 1,000 breathing machines, 30 tons of 84 disinfectant and disposable cotton swabs to Wuhan through SF courier,China Post. The first hospitals to receive these supplies are: Wuhan No.7 Hospital, West area of Union Hospital affiliated to Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan No. 3 Hospital, Huanggang Central Hospital, Tongcheng People’s Hospital.

The purchasing channel of medical supplies is narrow and it is also difficult to coordinate the logistic sources from around the country to Hubei area. Here thanks SF courier for opening green channel for part of the supplies used to anti the epidemic, thanks SF Charity for bearing the transport costs from Shijiazhung to the three hospitals in Wuhan. Also thanks China Postal free delivery service of donated materials for epidemic prevention.

The epidemic is heartless but people are sentient, and it is believed that with the help of priests at home and abroad and community of caring people, the Chinese people will surely win the battle against the new coronavirus. May God bless the Chinese people through this disaster.
